Travel Insurance...Don't leave home without it!

Here is a brief summary of the different travel insurance plans that I suggest. This is only a very brief summary, and you should read the full document as highlighted for the full details.

RBC Deluxe Travel Insurance covers your emergency medical needs; doctor visits, tests, hospitalization, etc. This plan also covers cancellation, interruption and trip delays, flight accident, travel accident, delayed baggage & personal effects and damaged baggage.

RBC Non Medical Travel Insurance covers cancellation, interruption and trip delays, flight accident, travel accident, delayed baggage & personal effects and damaged baggage. There is no medical coverage included.

Anyone over the age of 73 will be required to remit a medical questionnaire prior to booking to ensure the coverage will be permitted by RBC.
All insurance policies will be booked at the time of booking your vacation.

The cost of insurance will be processed at the time of booking.

What about vaccinations?

Conditions can be very different in other countries. Standards of hygiene may be lower, and food and water supplies may be contaminated. This can leave travelers at higher risks for disease, and can turn your trip into an unpleasant experience - or worse. We strongly recommend making an appointment with your family doctors or with the Skylark Medical Clinic. A bit of advance planning will help keep you healthy and your trip worry free.

Contact info: Skylark Medical Clinic - 264 Tache Avenue - 204.453.9107 or check out their website at www.skylarkmedicalclinic.com.

Register your travel with Foreign Affairs

Foreign affairs offers a registration service for all Canadians traveling abroad. This service is provided so that the government officials can contact you to assist with an emergency in a foreign country, such as a natural disaster or civil unrest, or inform you of a family emergency at home. Please visit http://www.voyage.gc.ca/main/sos/rocapage-en.asp to register.

How to book your space...

I thought I would outline the information on how to book your space to Coralee & Daves wedding. I would prefer if you would email me your request. Please feel free to call for information, but an email eliminates any issues like spelling mistakes in names, etc. Inside your email I need each person to tell me the following things:

1. Your Full Name as it is listed in your passport. It is essential that your passport name and your airline ticket name be identical. If you have not yet requested a passport, make sure that the name you tell me is exactly the same name that you put on your passport application. If you find later that the name you gave me is not the same as what is listed in your passport, the airline will charge you $200 to change the name. If the name is not changed to reflect the exact same name, then you will be denied boarding on travel day!

2. Your Full Mailing Address

3. Your Phone Number (s) that you can be reached at. I have to have at least one phone where you can be reached. I need this for a number of reasons: Should the resort sell out, they have the right to ask for final payment then instead of waiting for the final payment date....Should the airline change the flight times....Should there be any problem with the credit card you gave me for payment....I need to be able to reach you NOW.

4. Your Email Address where I can reach you. I would like to have your email address so that I can send out a blanket email should any group issues arise. I will then be following up with individual phone calls but I can reach much more of you faster if I have an email address.

5. Your Date of Birth: I require your date of birth for my files, and in order to process your travel insurance.

6. Your Credit Card Information: I will require your credit card information for the initial deposit, and then I will require your credit card information for your final payment. If both payments will be made using the same credit card then I only require the one credit card number. I would like to suggest that you send me all of the information above - except your credit card details - via email. I will then telephone you to collect your more personal information, like your credit card numbers.

Air Canada Vacations requires a deposit of $200 per person at the time of booking to hold the vacation package. Then, the balance owing will have to be paid by the second week of October 2009 to receive the early booking bonus. You can make your final payment at any time prior to October 15th, 2009, but we will need final payments to be processed by that date.

If final payment are not made in full by October 15th, 2009, rates will increase by $480 per adult based on single occupancy, $300 per adult based on double occupancy, $270 per adult based on triple occupancy. After October 15th, 2009 rates will be subject to change.

What about passports?

You should have a valid Canadian passport for all trips outside Canada. A passport is the only reliable and universally accepted identification document, and it proves that you have a right to return to Canada. Some countries do not require a passport for entry but do require photographic identification [such as a driver's license] as well as proof of Canadian citizenship [such as a birth certificate or citizenship card]. However, this varies from country to country.

To avoid delays and other problems that will hinder your return to Canada, Canadian citizens are strongly advised to obtain a Canadian passport prior to initiating international travel and to use their Canadian passport at all times for international travel. Passport applications can be done online at http://www.voyage.gc.ca, or picked up at a Canada Post Office.

If you have any questions regarding the Barcelo Maya Beach itself, the pricing of the rooms, the insurance, or anything else, please send an email to dreamawaytravel@shaw.ca or call Angela directly at 204-223-9886. As much as everyone is there for Coralee & Dave, I also want to make sure that your vacation is exactly what you want and expect. So gather up your information and get those emails coming in..... or call me.....
